JomSocial is a great extension built for the wonderful Joomla! that comes with many features people desire in a social network. One of the best things about JomSocial is the dialog’s or popups that allow users to interact by uploading videos, changing their profile, and even login without changing the page. The current version of JomSocial I used for this installation is “1.6.288″.
During one of my JomSocial adventures I came across a critical error in JomSocial’s popups. What would happen is I would click on any link that would launch the dialog and it would just site there loading the window indefinitely. See the screenshot above.
I scoured JomSocial’s support forum for an immediate answer with no luck. I tried everything from uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling the “azrul.zip” plugin from “com_community_pro_1.6.288.zip -> site/azrul.zip” and still received the error.
After launching FireBug and trying to see why the AJAX request wasn’t returning a page, I received an error that said “404 component not found”.

I managed to find a solution to the error, and it dealt with reinstalling the system. I guess some components didn’t install successfully during the first installation.
The Solution:
- Reinstall the “com_community_pro_x.x.xxxx.zip” component.
- After installation completes, go to “Extensions -> Plugin Manager” and find “Azrul System Mambot For Joomla”.
- It should be disabled, you should now enable it.
- Go to “Extensions -> Extension Manager” then to “Plugins” and find “Azrul System Mambot For Joomla” and assure that its showing up in the list of plugins.
In short, reinstall JomSocial and enable the system plugin.

Thanks for the post, some JomSocial users might have the same problem since the solution on the forum isn’t working.
I have found a potential source of this issue. NiceChat overwrites the azrul plugin with an older, legacy version. I’m still digging around to see if I can get NiceChat to play …nice with the latest version of JomSocial. To avoid reinstalling JomSocial in it’s entirety, you can…
1: Uninstall the Azrul System Mambot
2: delete {joomla}/plugins/system/pc_includes
3: Extract the com_community package.
4: Install the plugin located at {com_community}/site/azrul.zip
5: Profit!
